The benefits listed are provided to every Houston Police Officer covered by the current bargaining agreement. Benefits are subject to change and certain conditions apply, see policy or plan document for details.
The following benefits are provided by the Texas Police Trust.
Accident Coverage
$1000* per month ($250 per week) after a fourteen-day (14) elimination period for up to 12 consecutive months. Must be totally disabled within 30 days from the accident. Includes a 50% light duty benefit**
* Benefits will be coordinated with all other policies. Monthly benefit must not exceed 60% of base pay.
** Light duty for up to four (4) consecutive weeks. Covered person must be totally disabled for fifteen (15) consecutive days before a light duty benefit can be paid. Benefit paid at $125 per week.

Medical Reimbursement
Effective July 1, 2003 a medical reimbursement plan will be implemented and will provide the following benefits.
Coverage provided to officers, spouse and dependant children up to a total of five lives. Member must provide a HMO Blue Texas card that shows your spouse and/or dependant children as a covered dependant. In the event that two officers are married, dependant coverage will be provided to the officer who carries the dependants on their city of Houston major medical. No coverage will be provided to dependants not covered under an officer's City of Houston major medical. Coverage is limited to $1500 per person annual maximum benefit.
